Lorraine Stanton -Back in lycra after a few years out..eek! but worth it for a good cause!

LStantonWell it’s time for me to get my cycle shorts back on…it’s been a good few years! But I needed a challenge and it absolutely had to be to help others.

Most of you who know me; know that in the space of the last 2 and a half years I have certainly been challenged emotionally and as always I try not to be down and I always try to find positives. But losing 5 most wonderful, cherished nearest & dearest from my best friend to 4 of my closest family has certainly tested me! They may have had a very unfair short life or a reasonably good few years; but they all lived their lives to the best that they were able to have, albeit taken away by dreadful disease.  I know in my heart they would appreciate my plea today; and the plea is to raise money for premature baby research & care. I want to be a part of helping to give hope to wonderful new lives.  Genesis Research Trust is the perfect charity.

I have always enjoyed being involved with charities and for at least 12 years; in-between bringing up 2 gorgeous children, working seriously long hours in the Hospitality industry, I am always there for others.  I have been on fundraising committees for NSPCC, Action For Children, School & local charities and helped raised around a million pounds over those years, but now this is more daunting, this will be me setting my own personal fundraising target!

So to all my family, friends, and my local business colleagues here’s where I’d love and yes….. need your support. On the 10th May this year, I am cycling in the Highlands of Scotland, 360 miles in 6 days!  I need all the help I can get.

I have promised to raise at least £2400 by end of March, ahead of the ride, as this is part of the challenge, can I raise enough? So my lycra is warmed and the wheels are about turning, albeit slowly with my training schedule, but I promise I won’t let you or the charity down.  Yellow Jersey here I come….oops getting carried away, wrong ride!  But I may be sporting Pink!   Look out for me on my training rides!

If you’d like to help me help give these little babies a chance then please I’d be exceptionally grateful for any donation however small.

I’ll keep you posted with my training and progress.

Thank you so much

xx
